Diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, PDA & other disorders

All of our Psychologists are registered with the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and adhere to their Code of Ethics. Ross Psychology is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our clients and the Privacy Policy below outlines this commitment. 

Client Information

Any information collected by Ross Psychology is obtained with your consent, as part of the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of yourself/your child or adolescent. This information is only seen by the treating Psychologist, and is retained in order to document what happens during sessions as part of the therapy process. Personal information, such as your name, address, Medicare and health insurance details are used for the purpose of addressing accounts, processing payments and contacting you as needed regarding you/your child or adolescents' assessment/therapy. 

Security

Client files and personal details are held on a secure server or in secure files which is only accessible to authorised employees. Ross Psychology takes reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorised access, improper use, alternating and unlawful or accidental destruction.

Confidentiality and Disclosing Information

Ross Psychology adheres to the confidentiality requirements as part of the APS Code of Ethics and the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. Information regarding yourself or your child/adolescent will remain confidential and secure; except in the case where:

• It is subpoenaed by a court of law;
• Failure to disclose the information would place the individual or another person at risk of harm.
• Your prior written consent has been obtained to provide or receive information from another professional or agency, such as your child's school, GP, Paediatrician, or other Allied Health Practitioners.

Request for access to client information

At any stage, clients may request access to information about them that is kept on file. The Psychologist may discuss the contents with them and/or give them a copy of this information. All requests by clients for access to information held about them should be lodged with the treating Psychologist; and will be responded to within 14 days and an appointment made if necessary for clarification purposes. An administration charge may be applicable as per the fees set out by the APS. The request may be required in writing.

If you have any concerns regarding the management of your personal information or confidentiality, please do not hesitate to raise these with your treating Psychologist or our Director.
